On September 11, Shawn Levy has been announced to direct an episode in the final season. In an interview released on February 1, 2023, Finn Wolfhard suggested Stranger Things 5 might release in 2025. Another source suggested filming was set to begin on in Atlanta, Georgia. However, David Harbour later informed fans during Middle East Comic Con that filming would commence one month later, in June. The first episode title was revealed to be "The Crawl" on November 6, 2022, as part of Stranger Things Day.Īccording to the Duffer Brothers, the second episode was being written throughout early November of 2022, with The Crawl being completed two weeks prior. On September 20, the account posted a photo of the then-completed grid for the 8 episodes, but with the words blurred to conceal spoilers. On August 25, the account posted a photo indicating that the season will consist of eight episodes, re-iterating what the Duffers had already suggested in interviews. We have no idea if the Duffer Brothers are going to go this crazy long with the season and episodes again, but considering they’ll probably want season 5 to top everything else, including this one, my guess would yes. Things are wrapping up with season 5, which will no doubt be a year or more away, but hopefully not as long as a gap between 3 and 4, provided we don’t have another pandemic to deal with. Fortunately, episode 7 ends on a pretty solid cliffhanger in its own right as we learn the true origins of Vecna.Īgain, this is not the final season of Stranger Things. Rather, there was simply so much work to be done on these last two episodes in particular, that they needed the extra month of production time to get them done.
These final two episodes were delayed not because Netflix is trying to move away from its binge model and spread out interest in the show.
